At YBR Hunting Ranch, we prioritize your safety and comfort by limiting the size of hunting groups to 2 individuals, single or individual hunters are also welcome and positioning them across the ranch. Our hunts are conducted from large, strategically placed box blinds that provide a range of benefits, including concealment from game, protection from the elements, and a stable shooting platform. This enhances your chances of making a successful one-shot kill, while also ensuring that we are aware of your location at all times. To minimize the risk of poor shots and animal injury, our guides are always available to assist you in making the best shot possible.
To ensure the welfare of the animals, we do not allow bow hunting or hunting from vehicles (safari hunts). Instead, we focus on providing a safe and controlled hunting environment eliminating rushed hunters and bad shots. We have a 200 yard target range where we encourage all hunters to check their rifles before heading out to ensure your rifle did not become uncalibrated in transit to the ranch. This helps minimize the risk of poor shots and ensures that your hunting experience meets the high standards we have set for ourselves and our clients. We understand the importance of having a successful hunting trip and want to make sure that you get the most out of your investment with us.
Our hunting trips typically involve a guide accompanying you in the blind, providing personalized attention and assistance. They will help you identify game species and select the best animals for harvest. It can be tempting to shoot the first big deer you see, but having an experienced and knowledgeable guide by your side ensures that you have the opportunity to make a well-informed decision and choose from the best available options. Our guides are there to ensure that you have the best possible hunting experience, even when faced with multiple trophy-sized whitetails.
When I first acquired the ranch, I was fortunate enough to spot 15 of the largest deer I have ever seen, with estimated scores ranging from 175 to 250+. I waited until late December to take my shot and was able to bag a massive deer, which can be seen in some of the pictures on our website. This deer scored 276 5/8 and was not even the largest deer on the property. My personal experience here has been truly unforgettable.
While success in hunting cannot be guaranteed, our guests have consistently been impressed with the exceptional quality of the deer species on our ranch, including whitetail, blackbuck, fallow, and axis. Additionally, you may even have the chance to spot an oryx. Although we cannot promise a specific outcome, one thing is certain: you will have plenty of opportunities to see a variety of wildlife. Our low-volume, low-pressure approach to hunting prioritizes the quality of the hunting experience above all else. Additionally, we also offer limited bird hunting for quail, ducks, and chukar.

Whitetail DeerThe trophy of trophy animals in the state of Texas, some would say an obsession and rightly so, trophy whitetail are magnificent animals and come in all shapes and sizes. The YBR Ranch has both “typical” and “non-typical” trophy whitetail that can score from 180 to close to 300. We actively game manage the herd to have some of the best whitetail in Texas.

Axis DeerAlso native to India, Axis are very difficult to hunt, they just don’t show themselves very much, even in a low pressure operation like ours. The challenge of hunting Axis is very real and success rates are not particularly high, but that is also what makes it fun and rewarding when you finally get that opportunity. It has been said, once you have tasted Axis deer meat, you will never eat whitetail again….not sure I disagree, it is absolutely outstanding. I am willing to bet that if someone didn’t tell you a hamburger was axis meat, you would guess it is beef.

Fallow DeerNative of Eastern Europe, Fallow deer are some of the best looking mounts, they look like a Moose in the size of a deer, the Palmated antlers are really unique and quite beautiful. Fallow come in 3 or so colors. We have chocolate, white and a blend of the two whereby some look like a whitetail with spots, but with Moose antlers. The other benefit of Fallow deer, they taste very similar to Axis deer, which in other words makes them delightful.
